They’re an inexpensive way to carry up to three bikes safely and securely, and their value is stretched even further by the fact that they fit a wide variety of different vehicles, making them a great solution for riders who need a rack that easily fits more than one vehicle. Trunk mounted racks can also be a good supplement for those times when you manage to fill up all the real estate on your roof rack system. Spare Tire-Mount Bike Racks If you’ve got a spare tire on the rear of your vehicle, and you’re looking for an affordable option to carry a couple bikes, you should consider a spare tire mounted rack. They offer the same easy low level access that trunk and hitch mounted racks give, and like hitch mounted racks, the arms fold down when not in use to keep a low profile.
